ORGANISTS APPROVED TO PLAY IN THE MARRIOTT CENTER

Those who wish to play the organ in the Marriott Center for any public event should all ready have received extended training specifically in organ playing skills and organ registration prior to the event. They must be approved by the BYU organ faculty (doncook@byu.edu 801-422-3260; neil.harmon@byu.edu). If the name of a person who has been requested to play does not appear on this list, please refer them to Dr. Cook or Dr. Harmon for an audition at least thirty days prior to the event. To request an approved organist for an event, contact the organist directly, or contact organ@byu.edu. To schedule practice time on the organ more than 48 hours prior to the day of the event, contact the Marriott Center (801-422-6022).

Pianists who wish to begin receiving organ training might consider the free BYU Independent Study organ course, Music 71 or 72 (visit elearn.byu.edu and click “Enroll Now,” under Course Level select “Community Education,” under Subject select “Music”). As an alternative, contact a faculty member for teacher recommendations. To prepare to play in the Marriott Center, plan at least one year of formal organ instruction.
