Preparing for Performance

EMPHASIZE

As performance time draws near, the way you spend your practice time should change. The following should be emphasized in practice:

• learn to the point of memorization
• mistake-free practice, both slowly and in tempo, of larger sections
• go through THE FOUR F's immediately whenever a mistake appears
• perform in front of people, including critical listeners
• practice with distractions that challenge your ability to play with composure
• practice at the organ at which you will perform
