To the right is the resulting plan for the treatment of repeated notes as discussed in this lesson. It takes into account many factors, including matters of the relative position and proximity of parts, the meter, musical phrasing, the text, accent, and patterns.
This plan does not take into account matters of acoustics, congregational tradition, or personal taste. For these and other reasons, this can only be considered one approach. Modifications and alternate approaches that deal successfully with the principles mentioned throughout the lesson may be just as musical and acceptable.
Listen to an example of the hymn as modified in this lesson (verse 1).
