Hymn Project 1 is a very simple three-part arrangement of a hymn*. It uses straight-forward fingering techniques and very limited pedal coordination. The goal: to help an experienced pianist apply quickly some of the basic organ skills in a simple yet challenging and interesting piece.
The main challenge facing most pianists in this project: coordination. Although the notes and fingering are easy, combining all three parts with due attention given to the three listening skills can challenge even accomplished pianists. Resolve now to pay attention to every detail, building a solid foundation at each step.
*Choosing the hymn: Several choices for Hymn Project 1 are offered in the Hymn section of the Workbook. The setting of “Saints, Behold How Great Jehovah” is the easiest of the three. If you choose one of the others, adapt the instructions as needed.
