Stops that have no voice of their own but that manipulate stops that do are called non-speaking stops. Try out two of the different types of non-speaking stops.
COUPLER
Press Memory A (or Memory 1), then general piston 5, which includes
a chorus of stops at 8', 4', and 2' pitches on the Great and the
Swell. The Pedal includes 16', 8', and 4' pitches. Now retire (take
off) all of the Pedal stops, and pull Great to Pedal [8']. Play
the lowest C on both manuals, then on the Great. Note that the lowest
C of the Great and the Pedal sound identical. The Great has been
“coupled” to the pedal with a “unison coupler”. All of the Great stops currently pulled can now be heard whenever you play on the Pedal. You can pull additional Pedal stops if you wish.
