A combination action allows the organist to choose a combination of stops, set (save) the combination, then recall it at any time by pressing a button.
The stops to be included in the combination are first selected by hand. Then the Set button is pressed and held in while one of the general combination thumb pistons or generals (for example, “General 1”) is pressed momentarily. Both the Set button and the general are then released.
Certain important components of the combination action are discussed in other lessons: thumb piston, Set button, and toe stud. The multi-level memory and the combination lock-out will be discussed on the next few screens.
