With the duo broken down both into vertical sections (perhaps four measures) and horizontal parts (the two lines), you are ready to begin practice. Practice a horizontal line (perhaps the left-hand part first) through the section slowly enough to stay in control. After several perfect repetitions can be played in a row, work towards several more repetitions at a slightly faster tempo. Repeat this process until reaching proficiency at a designated tempo.
Now move to the other horizontal line (the right-hand part), repeating the procedure just described. After achieving the same standard on that part, combine the two parts at a tempo slow enough to stay in control. Work towards a designated tempo gradually, as described above, and then record the date and tempo.
