While note errors are the easiest to detect, you should be able to identify any kind of mistake. The following, for example, would need correction just as urgently as a note error:

  • incorrect rhythm
  • phrasing error
  • registration problem
  • inefficient fingering or pedaling
  • inconsistent pulse
  • musically unconvincing ritard
  • inappropriate articulation
  • unintended over-legato
  • wrong tempo at meter or tempo change
