Mixed Families

Building outward usually requires the mixing of families, since only the very largest organs have multiple stops of the same pitch and the same family on any one division. In the rather complete flue stops of the Great division to the right, for example, there is only one 8' principal, one 8' flute, and one 8' hybrid. The pairs of 4' stops and of 2' stops also consist of different families.
