Two-Manual Organ Consoles

Stops Knobs or Tabs

In order for a pipe to speak, a key on the appropriate manual or pedal must be depressed, and a stop must be pulled (drawn, engaged).

Organ consoles are usually provided with either stop knobs (drawknobs), stop tabs, or rocker tabs. Since tabs are less expensive to produce, they are found on many two-manual organs. These are usually located on a stop rail located just above the highest manual (the Swell). This is the same position occupied by the coupler rail on some larger organs.
