Using MIDI Couplers
In order for a MIDI sound to be received by and played on an organ through a MIDI coupler, the following must be done:
- A MIDI cable must be connected from the “MIDI Out” port of the organ to the “MIDI In” port of the sound source.
- The “MIDI on Great” coupler will send messages or data over a certain channel (usually channel 1). The MIDI sound source must be set to receive on that same channel. (See the operator's manuals for the organ and the sound source.)
- The MIDI sound source must also be set to produce the desired sound.
- The audio outputs of the MIDI sound source must be connected with an audio cable to the organ's “Audio In” jacks (or another amplified sound system).
- The volume of the MIDI sound source must be balanced with that of the organ's speaking stops with which it will be heard.
