At the top of each group of exercises in the workbook is a short form that will help you focus on the appropriate pedal technique checkpoints for that group. The checkpoints are included in the workbook just before the pedal exercises and on the large yellow card.
Focus on one checkpoint at a time in each repetition (see the four “Checkpoints” highlighted). Record the date only when you can practice through the group easily without error. Do this on at least three different days (see “day 1,” “day 2,” etc., highlighted), and then have a friend pass you on each checkpoint as you play the group (see “friend” highlighted).
You are then ready to play the group for your instructor, who will pass you when it is clear that you have formed a correct habit with each checkpoint (that is, when you can play the exercises the first time with all of the checkpoints in order).
