Main Points of Hymn Project 1

Hymn Project 1, a trio, includes three musical lines or parts: one for the right hand, one for the left, and one for the pedal. In "Saints, Behold" each manual line fits neatly underneath the expanded hand, and the pedal line is a simple repeated pattern of two notes--one for each foot (toe). In the other hymns the manual lines do not fit as neatly underneath the expanded hand due to an occasional finger crossing.

As you begin practicing Hymn Project 1, remember the following guidelines:

• Use a systematic practice approach.
• Practice each step until it is mastered before moving on to the next.
• Focus on applying the three listening skills at every step.
• Always practice slowly enough to stay in control.
