Practice Plan

To finish your plan, BREAK IT DOWN into small pieces for practice. Although the size of each piece may vary for each individual, the following plan can be used by almost anyone.

Break it down VERTICALLY (into sections). "Saints, Behold" breaks down neatly into two-measure sections--number them. The sections in the example to the right are marked by the blue numbers. In order to practice the releases at the phrase breaks (marked by commas), you need to practice through the first beat of the third measure following each sectional division; that is, the sections will overlap by one beat.

Break it down HORIZONTALLY (into lines or parts). All trios break themselves down neatly into three lines: one played by the right hand, one by the left, and the other by the feet. These divisions are marked by the gold letters to the right.
