Introduction

Decisions

You might compare the process of choosing stops in chorus registration to the process of choosing vocalists for a choir and arranging their music for performance.

If you have four parts to be sung, one thing is certain: at least one vocalist is required for each part. From that point, you will have to make some decisions:

  • CHOIR SIZE. Will there be only one singer per part, or more than one?
  • VOLUME. What will be the volume of each voice? What will be the total volume?
  • TIMBRE (tone color). What sort of voice(s) will sing each part?
