Stop knobs or tabs that control speaking stops must be engaged before the pipes that they control may sound. Determine what type of stop controls are on your organ--usually stop knobs ("drawknobs"), stop tabs, or rocker tabs.
The stop named “Principal 8'” or “Diapason 8'” is usually found on the Great division. Find and “pull” (engage) this stop, then play a few keys on the Great manual.
Pull one of the eight-foot stops on the Swell, and then play a few keys on the Swell manual.
Now pull both a 16' stop and an 8' stop (try “Principal” or “Octave”) on the Pedal, and then play a few keys with your feet.
