Rocker tabs are usually found in a row (“stop rail”) located just above the highest manual (the Swell). It is pulled by pressing the bottom of the tab, and retired by pressing the top.
Although rocker tabs have been in common use for many years, especially on the coupler rail, lighted rocker tabs that function as stop tabs are now used on many electronic organs. When engaged or “pulled,” the rocker tab becomes lit. When retired, the light turns off.
Many rocker tabs can be engaged at once by pressing the bottom of several at once or in rapid sequence. Long lines of them can be retired quickly by running the finger across the top of the coupler rail.
