DISTRIBUTION OF HANDS AND FEET: The higher manual part (purple highlight) is played on one manual, using a solo stop or combination. The lower manual part (yellow highlight) is on the other manual, using another solo stop or combination.
PITCHES (manual): Both manual parts are usually built on an 8' foundation. However, a 4' or 16' solo stop or a combination built on either pitch is also possible.
PEDAL: If the pedal is serving a bass function, it is usually built on a 16' foundation. If the pedal is performing a more melodic function, or if it carries the hymn melody, it may be built on either a 16', 8', or 4' foundation.
